Inktober 2020, Day 25: "Buddy". I thought what better match for the prompt than Stanley Stegosaurus, which my parents got to me when we moved to the US, when I was six. Stanley was a good buddy to me, when I didn’t understand at first the weird language spoken by those American kids. It has also been a good buddy to me during this weird pandemic time, when my IRL social life seems to be limited to maybe meeting one person once a month. Brush pens and posca on coloured A4.

Due to COVID-restrictions, Edinburgh urban sketchers have been sketching virtually in Catalonia using Google street view. Here’s one of my contributions. It’s somewhere in Amposta ... unfortunately, didn’t take note of the actual street :O Pencil, brush pens and posca on coloured A4.

Finished this today in urban sketching. View from my backyard with Edinburgh tenements and a back corner of Fountainbridge library. Mixed media on A4 (pencil, watercolour pencil, brush pen, posca markers, white ink and conte pastel). I always end up mixing lots of media these days :O

I used brush pen and watercolors. The most challenging part was holding back on excessive pen lines to render the fur, using patches of paint instead. Although I think the background is a bit dark and there a few mistakes, I feel that learned from this.

I used watercolor brush pens for this drawing.

This is an adorable picture of a panda giving another panda a giant bouquet of flowers. The drawing was sketched with pencil, outlined with glitter pens, and mostly filled in with brush pens. Some details were filled in with the glitter pens also. Getting the flowers to look nice was not easy, but I think I just got away with it. Hope you enjoy the cute pair.

I started with watercolor and watercolor, but then realised I needed a more opaque black and switched to gouache, acrylic and brush pens for the final touches. Most of the original looseness was lost after that, however he looks more accurate now I think.

This is a drawing of a random popstar I made up. His name is Alejandro Bolvaire and he has the voice of Danny Gokey. XD (Danny Gokey is awesome -- give him a listen sometime) Anyway, Alejandro here is mostly crayon, but his hair and shades are colored with brush pens. He has an ink pen outline. This drawing was lightly sketched with pencil and then drawn with a black brush pen. His nose and eyes are colored with glitter pens. A very simple drawing, yet, I hope it brightens your day just a bit.
